Grune Keiljungfer

Gomphus serpentin

Earlier we already saw the creek this dragonfly was present and here is the Grune Keiljungfer (Ophigomphus cecilia) itself. It looks a little bit strange, because I first caught it. Dave put the dragonfly on a stone and it directly flew away. Dave told me I was too late, but the hand of Dave is can not been seen but the dragonfly itself can.

The eyes don't reach eachother, that makes this dragonfly a Gomphidae (Rombout). It is the only Gomphus with three distinctive colours: a green torax and a yellow black abdomen. Exuviae are found near the German/Dutch border. Maybe the species can be found in Holland in the future.
